Hubert Parris, Head Coach- Sprints & Field Events
Coach Parris is one of the founding members of our program. He has been coaching youth sports since 2003, and has been USA Track and Field Level 1 certified, since 2010. He started coaching track and field as an assistance with the White Plains Future Stars in 2010. His sons are DAYO Lightning alumni and ran for Brookfield High School. His Daughter who was the inspiration that got him started in coaching track, holds the 200M, and 400M records at Brookfield High. She competed at Boston University and was on the 4 X 400 team that holds the School record. She completed her undergraduate degree at Boston University in 2017, and received her DPT in 2019.
Coach Parris brings passion to teaching young athletes proper technique and loves to help each athlete realize their unique ability and reach their potential.
Coach Parris played football at New Rochelle High Schools, and Central Ct. State University where he received All-New England Defensive Back recognition.
Hubert has been married to his wife for over 30 years and has four children. Hubert stays actively involved with his church, and has been with his company for over 33 years where he is a Financial Advisor with Barnum Financial Group, a MassMutual Firm, formerly MetLife.
Darren Joseph, Coach- Distance & Field Events:
Coach Joseph has been with the program since its inception in 2011 and has over 28 years of experience working with youth organizations in CT and NY in a variety of roles. He is the current Commissioner of DAYO Football, and has been involved as a coach and parent volunteer with D.A.Y.O. for the past 16 years, coaching T-Ball, Flag Football, and Tackle Football, in addition to his work with Track & Field. Coach Joseph was selected to represent the New England Region at the Hershey North America Final Track and Field event in Hershey, PA. He continues to enjoy volunteering and welcomes the opportunity to introduce children to the sport of Track and Field and build character though competition and hard work.
As a past competitive Track and Field runner, coach Joseph was part of a relay team that holds the 4 x 440 record at The Armory Track in NYC. Coach Joseph is a Network Infrastructure Engineer.
Kenson O' Donald, Coach - Sprints: Coach O' Donald Joined the team during the indoor 2018 season. Coach O'Donald ran track in Barbados WI where he competed in Sprints and Jumps. With a desire to have a better academic understanding of the sport he achieved his USATF Level I Certification prior to becoming a coach. Coach O' Donald is married and has three children who all competed in the program. Two are still competing on the Lighting team, and the oldest competes on her high school team. Coach O' Donnell is actively involved with his church and is a Software engineer.
Kelly Cruz, Coach- Stretch: Coach Cruz has a unique ability to connect with our younger athletes and help them understand proper stretching techniques which is crucial in building the proper foundation on which elite track athletes can excel.
